Dominic Sartorio
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who are you and what do you do?
I'm an American high-tech professional and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am currently employed at SpikeSource Inc., a vendor of open source solutions and services. I do product management there.
Can I have a copy of your resume?
I don't usually post my resume on my website. I once did, and it was amazing how far and wide it got distributed. If you're looking for my work history, then take a look at my profile on LinkedIn.
What happened to "Dominic Sartorio and Associates"?
You mean this site? During the depths of the dot-com bust, when long-term work was hard to come by, I did some short-term consulting projects here and there. However my preference is long-term employment in leadership positions to help companies grow, not short-term projects. Now that the industry is back to normal, I'm not looking for contract positions at this time.
Where can I find your wedding and son's baby pictures?
You can find pictures from Julie's and my wedding and honeymoon here. You can find pictures of our son William's first year here, his second year here, and his third year here. Pictures of our second son David's first year can be found here.
Where can I find your digital photo collection?
I used to travel a lot, before becoming a family man, and I made a hobby of taking digital photographs wherever I went. Here's my collection.
Hey, I came to this site expecting to find an Italian search engine. Where is it?
You're probably looking for this site. I've nothing to do with this site and make no representations regarding it, its name notwithstanding.
I knew somebody with your name in Rhode Island back in the '80's, was that you?
Probably yes. I grew up in Narragansett, Rhode Island before going to college in 1990. After graduating, I moved to California.
I knew a grad student with your last name at MIT shortly after you were there, in the late 90's and early 2000's, in the philosophy department. Any relation?
You probably mean this person. No relation, never met. Nonetheless, if you're into philosophy, then she has an interesting take on causality and morality, including the infamous "trolley problem".
Hey, my name is also Sartorio, how did you get this domain name?
Thought of it first, I guess. There aren't many Sartorio's in the world, but every now and then I'll get an inquiry. I am not planning to give up this domain name, as I use it for legitimate personal and professional reasons. However sartorio.com is the only domain name that I claimed. Other organizations have since claimed sartorio.net and sartorio.org, but domain names in other countries such as sartorio.co.it are still available.
Do you have anything to do with the fashion or clothing industries? Do you frequently dress with sartorial splendor?
Ha Ha.. I get that a lot, but no. "Sartorio" is an old Italian word for "tailor", so somewhere in my family tree there must have been people involved with clothing, but neither me nor anybody in my immediate family is involved in that industry. I've sometimes used the "Taylor" pseudonym when going somewhere (certain tradeshows, for example) where I'd rather go incognito.
How can I contact you?
You're welcome to contact me by email: dom at sartorio.com. If you get an auto-response from the anti-spam software on my email client, then just reply to it and your original email will get to me.
What do you look like?
Here's a recent picture of me along Monterey Bay:
